Abstract

The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is currently a health problem that threatens Indonesia and many countries around the world. The aim of the research was to determine the relationship between knowledge and community stigma towards PLHIV in the Teluk Lecah Community Health Center working area. This type of quantitative research with a cross-sectional design, was carried out in December 2023. The population in this study was all people in the Teluk Lecah health center working area, totaling 11,225 people. The sample in this study was calculated using the Slovin formula which resulted in a total of 99 people. Data was obtained from distributing questionnaires. Data analysis used the chi square test. The research results showed that the majority of respondents had poor knowledge, namely 71 respondents (71.7%). Based on the results of data analysis using the Chi-square test, a p-value of 0.01 was obtained. Based on this value, because the p value is> 0.05, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between knowledge and community stigma towards PLHIV in the Teluk Lecah health center working area where the OR of the knowledge variable has a 0.208 times greater chance of influencing community stigma towards PLHIV. It is recommended that the Teluk Lecah Community Health Center HIV Extension Team continue to disseminate information about HIV to the community.
